HEYCO honored for innovative achievements

On November 14, 2023, Prof. Dr. Horst A. Wessel, Chairman of the Förderverein Mannesmann-Haus e.V., presented the Reinhard and Max Mannesmann Award for innovative achievements in the 2023 financial year to HEYCO-WERK Heynen GmbH & Co KG, represented by Managing Partner Markus Heynen, a graduate industrial engineer, during a ceremony at the German Tool Museum. With the participation of Remscheid’s mayor Burkhard Mast-Weisz, the certificate and medal were presented in front of an expert audience at the German Tool Museum in Remscheid.

“The reason for this award is the new and further development of tools, components and assemblies in cooperative development work with the automotive industry and the associated establishment of new business areas as well as the necessary realignment of production facilities, especially with regard to future developments in electromobility and autonomous driving systems,” introduced Prof. Dr. Wessel.

The decision for this award was made by a jury of managers from the fields of engineering and economics, economic history and human resources.

After the welcoming address by Lord Mayor Burkhard Mast-Weisz, in which he spoke about the relevance of innovative companies such as HEYCO for the city and society in the region, Prof. Dr. Wessel gave the laudatory speech and justified the award above all with HEYCO’s flexibility in adapting quickly and in close cooperation with customers to the changes demanded by the transition from the combustion engine to electromobility and ever new functions for automated driving.

“It is a great honour for the HEYCO company and the Heynen family to receive the Reinhard and Max Mannesmann Innovation Award,” said a delighted Markus Heynen after the presentation. He is proud to be able to join the ranks of the companies that have already been honoured and are part of the Who’s Who of Remscheid’s economy.

“I would also like to thank the city of Remscheid and the business development department,” Heynen addressed the Lord Mayor. They have always received excellent support here.

Markus Heynen then gave a skillful and relaxed tour of the company’s almost 90-year history and entertained the guests with many historical details.

Finally, Heynen handed over two historical artifacts, a set of tools from the early years of the HEYCO company and an old seal, to the German Tool Museum in Remscheid and ended by thanking Mr. Walbrecht, the museum director, for providing the appropriate setting for this ceremonial presentation of the Reinhard and Max Mannesmann Innovation Award.
