Groundbreaking ceremony for new HEYCO plant in the USA

The HEYCO Group is growing in the USA. In addition to the site in Emporia/VA, which has been part of the HEYCO Group since 2019, production for international automotive customers will also take place in Dallas/NC near Charlotte from summer 2025. The ground-breaking ceremony for a production and logistics building measuring over 6,200 square meters took place on 13.06.2024.

“In 2019, we took the opportunity to acquire the first plant in Virginia. Today, five years later, with the help of our customers and partners, we have really arrived in the USA,” says Markus Heynen, Managing Partner of the HEYCO Group. “We have received new orders from our customers, which means that the available space in the existing plant will be too small in the near future. We are convinced that we have found the right place and the right people to continue HEYCO’s success story in the USA with a second production site,” continues Heynen.

Daniel Dittmar/Managing Director and CEO of the first plant in Virginia will also be responsible for the new production and logistics site in the future. “I am delighted to welcome over 100 guests from politics, customers and suppliers today. For HEYCO USA, today is probably the most important day since the acquisition and the consistent focus on the needs of our customers in the automotive industry. Our new production and logistics unit here in North Carolina will bring us much closer to our customers’ assembly plants,” says Dittmar with satisfaction. The plant is conveniently located directly on several major transportation routes, the Charlotte airport and around 1 hour from the current main customer.

The production, assembly and logistics building, which covers over 6,200 square meters, will be equipped with state-of-the-art production facilities to manufacture complex single and multi-component injection-moulded parts for local customers from the automotive industry and their suppliers from 2025. Assembly with seals and connection technology is carried out directly on site. “In the future, the area to be built on the 4-hectare site that already belongs to it can be almost doubled,” explains Dittmar, pointing out the strategic direction of HEYCO USA’s development.

Chat Brown, Chairman of the Board of Gaston County/NC expressed his gratitude for the choice of the new HEYCO location in his county and Matthias Hoffmann, President and CEO of the German American Chamber of Commerce South, rounded off the speeches of the well-wishers before the official groundbreaking ceremony took place in beautiful weather.

The celebrations continued in the evening with music, German beer and food at the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery in Charlotte and Markus Heynen was symbolically presented with a spade as a memento of this groundbreaking day.
